Galactic Neighbourhood

Astrophotos of our immediate vincinity. So to speak our inner galactic neighbourhood. Planetary nebulas, galactic clusters. Large emission nebulas are to be found here or here in false colors.

Remark: The Helix Nebula shot during a good night at Athos Centro Astronomico. The raw frames had a very good SNR and no gradients. Hence I had not to process the pics really much. Only slight denoise, color calibration, selective sharpening, masked stretch and manual stretch, LRGB combination, selective adjustment of saturation using different masks. Final cosmetics in PS.

Scope: Sigma APO 70-200mm f/2.8
Camera: Nikon D80
Mount: Photo Tripod
Guiding: –
Processing: PI
Remark: For the eclipse I went out to the field with my family. The photo was just a trial. Actually I haven’t been prepared for anything… The night was unusual hot for a northern german summer night as the whole
summer was.
