Bear Paw Galaxy

The Bear Paw Galaxy NGC 2537 is a blue compact dwarf galaxy in the constellation Lynx. Both galaxies, NGC 2537 and IC 2233 show effects which could  be explained by a recent interaction or minor merger. NGC 2537 was long thought to be possibly interacting with IC 2233, but this seems not be the case, as radio observations with the Very Large Array had shown. Both galaxies  appear to be evolving in relative isolation. Most likely NGC 2537 lies at a different distance than IC 2233. The distances are approx 7 MPc for NGC 2537 and 10 MPc for IC 2233 respectively [1].

Wolfgang Steinicke has an excellent page about visual observations of the Bear Paw and its neighbours.
